In 1967, Donnie moved to Windsor, Ontario, to take a job working for Ford Motor Company. Donnie was a very caring and charitable person and a friend to everyone he knew. He was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Windsor, Ontario. Donnie had a great devotion to his faith and a great passion for our Lord, Jesus Christ. Randy was born September 19th, 1949, and passed while in the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Randy was predeceased by his infant sister, Cynthia Marie Near, partners Theodore Tobin and Michael J. Brown, and his father Ronald George Near. Growing up in Shearwater, NS, Randy was very active in all sports. He was an elite member of the Shearwater Bluefins swim club specializing in the breaststroke and twice representing the club at the Canadian National Swim Trials. He spent many years volunteering for AIDS organizations and was active on the board of directors of the AIDS Coalition of Cape Breton.

Robert Gregory MacEachern passed away suddenly on Friday, April 10th, in Kettering, Ohio, after a short illness. Born December 27th, 1949, Greg was the oldest of eight sons born to the late Elizabeth and Duncan MacEachern. Growing up in Grosse Pointe, he attended Grosse Pointe St. Paul grade and high schools, graduating in 1968. In his younger years, Greg was an expert Enduro motorcycle racer. He entered and won contests throughout the Midwest, and made many friends along the way. Never without a job or a smile on his face, Greg continued his life and made it better when he met his future wife, Sue MacDonnell, whom he married in 1983. Sue and Greg shared their love for “everything Cape Breton,” as the history and culture of both their parents’ former homes in Nova Scotia became part of their social fabric and life. Greg served for years on the board of the Nova Scotian Club of Detroit and helped organize and enjoy many of the social events put on by the club. Greg was extremely proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed staying in touch with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Making their home in the Kettering, Ohio, area, Greg was a very active member in the southern Ohio sports community, where he refereed soccer for 15 years, and more recently began to referee lacrosse games for local clubs and high schools. Greg worked for many years with Heartland Payment Systems, and more recently with Get Beyond, providing both HR and payment systems solutions throughout Ohio. Prior to that career, Greg worked with Bombardier of Canada in their personal watercraft division. Greg is survived by his wife Sue, son Alec Angus MacEachern, twin daughters Margaret MacEachern and Dana MacEachern, and his four beloved grandchildren, Gaia, Madeline, Wilkins, and Hunter. She was blessed with personal gifts from “her kids” over the years and was always known to have a special treat waiting for them on special occasions and holidays. Brenda is survived by her husband, Jabez; daughter, Cora ; son, Jerrold ; granddaughters, Liliana and Ruby; sister, Beverly MacMillan; special nephew and niece, Chad and Jessica; and her loving fur babies, Webster and Jess; as well as many other family members and friends. As per her wishes there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. The death of Myrna Owen, aged 85 years, occurred on May 27th, 2020, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her family and friends who were so good to her during her illness. Myrna was the daughter of the late John Angus and Cassie MacNeil and was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia, but spent most of her life in Okalana, Kentucky, serving in the nursing profession for 40 years at St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Calvin, and two half brothers and sisters.

Married, when she was only 18, she followed her husband to Debert, where he was stationed, then to Gagetown before moving to Toronto, where she worked at Garlock Canada. She was a good cook and always very joyful and had a good sense of humour. She was predeceased by brothers, Wilfred and Albert; sisters, Elizabeth, Rita, and Therese; and sister-in-law, Geneva. It is with a very heavy heart that the family of Ronald “Ron” Bruce Ingraham announce his unexpected passing on December 29th, 2020, in Kentville, Nova Scotia. Born in Margaree Centre, Cape Breton, on September 26th, 1956, he was the eldest son of the late Roland and Christine Ingraham.
